by Karen Larard

A very traditional summer dish in Denmark. Glazed with mustard and brown sugar.

Supplies

  • 2.20 Pounds Ham
  • Water
  • ½ Cups Brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Mustard
  • Instructions

    Step 1

The smoked ham comes in a net, leave it on while boiling the ham.

    Step 2

place it in cold water and bring to the boil. This piece weigh 2.2 lb. it needs to boil for 40 minutes. When boiled turn the heat off and let the ham sit in the water for 40 minutes.

    Step 3

Turn your oven on to 435 F Mix sugar and mustard. I like my mustard with a bit of a bite so I use dijon mustard. Use any mustard. You don't need brown sugar you can use white sugar.

    Step 4

Place the ham in a oven proof dish and cut the net off.

    Step 5

Cut the rind off Because of the boiling it has the texture of a elastic band.

    Step 6

Brush your mustard-sugar mix on the ham

    Step 7

Glaze it in the hot oven for 20 minutes. Keep an eye on it to prevent it to get burnt.

    Step 8

Serve with mustard and cream spinach or your favourite veggie and melted butter.
