How to Cook a Simple Italian Tomato Sauce

Simple, yet delicious homemade sauce for meatballs and pasta.

Supplies

  • 1 28-oz can tomato puree
  • 1 28-oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ Cups Extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ Cups Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Teaspoons Basil
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Gather your ingredients.

    Step 2

    In a large pot, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil.

    Step 3

    Combine all ingredients and mix well.

    Step 4

    If you are adding meatballs/sausage, now is the time to do so.

    Step 5

    Cover and let it simmer for 3 hours.
