How to Complete the Standing Long Jump Test

Supplies

  • 1 Measuring tape
  • 1 Flat, non-slip surface
  • 1 Assistant
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    The Standing Long Jump test is a measure of power. It is a useful test for a wide variety of sports.

    Step 2

    Having laid the measuring tape out along the floor. Instruct the participant to stand behind the line.

    Step 3

    To generate momentum, the participant should swing their arms behind them and bend their knees.... They can do this a maximum of 3 times.

    Step 4

    On the third swing (or earlier if they prefer), the participant should jump forwards.

    Step 5

    Upon landing, the participant must stay as still as possible (I.E. keep their feet still)

    Step 7

    The assistant will take their measurement from the heel of the back landing foot. An average of three jumps shall be the score recorded on the assessment sheet.
