How to Build Your Own Mannequin

Create your own paper Mannequin to use in Art Class.

Supplies

  • Mannequin Template
  • markers
  • card stock or card board
  • scissors
  • glue stick
  • plastic craft lace
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Here is a picture of the supplies needed.

    Step 2

    First, use the glue stick to adhere the mannequin template to the card board. You could also print the template on heavy card stock to save time.

    Step 3

    Use markers to add color.

    Step 4

    Punch holes in the joints using a pencil and a soft surface, such as a sponge, rag, or carpet.

    Step 5

    Cut out all the pieces. I call this technique the "Alligator Chomp". It makes cutting the details easier.

    Step 6

    Now cut along the edge.

    Step 7

    Use the plastic lace to tie the joints together. You can use tiny brads if you have them.

    Strike a pose! We will be using these in our lesson about Motion and Movement in Art. It is also a great tool to help with Proportion of the human figure.
