How to Bake a Cake and Frost It

Instructions on preparing a dark chocolate bunt cake with dark chocolate frosting.

Supplies

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 Teaspoons Soda
  • 1 ½ Cups Buttermilk
  • 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ Cups Dark Cocoa
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1 Cup Hot Coffee
  • 1 Cup White Sugar
  • ¼ Cups Milk
  • ⅓ Cups Butter
  • ½ Cups Dark Chocolate Chips

    Step 1

    2 Cups Sugar

    3 Eggs

    2 tsp Vanilla

    Step 4

    1 1/2 cups buttermilk

    Step 5

    2 tsp soda

    Step 6

    1 cup oil

    Step 7

    1 1/2 tsp salt

    Step 8

    3/4 cup dark cocoa

    Step 9

    3 cups flour

    Step 10

    Mix ingredients

    Step 11

    Add half of coffee

    Step 12

    Mix

    Step 13

    Add 1/4 more coffee

    Step 14

    Add remainder of coffee and mix until well blended

    Pour batter into well sprayed cake pan (bunt pan)

    Put cake into preheated oven set to 350 degrees and cook for 45 minutes

    Start making frosting while cooking cake. Start with 1 cup sugar.

    Add 1/3 butter

    Step 20

    Add 1/4 cup milk

    Step 21

    Heat mixture, stir, and bring to boil

    Constantly stir and bring to full boil

    Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

    Stirring in ingredients

    Let stand

    Check cake for even baking

    Check cake with toothpick to see if its done

    If toothpick comes out clean, your cake is done.

    Place plate on bunt pan

    Flip plate over so that bunt pan is on top.

    Lift off bunt pan carefully as it is hot and can burn you.

    A perfectly cooked cake comes out like this if pan is sprayed well with cooking spray.

    Pour cooled frosting over cake.

    Continue until amount desired is reached.

    Finished cake. Cut and serve.
