On the inside of the band, it will tell you which direction the pins come out. If you don't see this, they may be screws, or a different kind of pin. Look in the band to determine what you have

I am using a center punch I ground down on my bench grinder, to push the pins out. You may need to use a small hammer and light force to get the cotter pins out

Take the piece out and put the band back together the opposite of how you took it apart. May need a small hammer to get the pins flush with the band

Repeat for the other side, or as many links as you need out, then just pop the band back together and you're done. Keep the extra links somewhere in the event you need them in the future
