• Maker Interview: Tina Ly Johnson of PostalPix

    Tina

Check out our latest Maker Interview with Tina Ly Johnson from PostalPix. She makes their awesome DIY Photo Displays and we wanted to know her secrets!

Snapguide: How did you get into photography?
Tina: I’ve always been a huge fan of film & digital photography (and now mobile photography) for as long as I can remember. I guess it all started with a darkroom photography class in high school.

S: What do you like doing in your free time, besides shooting and making photo displays?
T: Traveling and eating, sometimes both at the same time.

S: What’s your favorite material to work with for creating photo displays?
T: Mod Podge. That stuff is a miracle worker.

S: We’ve seen a lot of Mod Podge on Snapguide and yes, we agree it’s super cool stuff. Any guides coming up that you’re excited about?
T: Lots of fun frame and gift ideas in the future!

S: Who is your favorite maker on Snapguide right now?
T: Loving Kara Good’s guides right now.

S: We really want to make her homemade lotion bars, too. Thanks for talking with us, Tina! Looking forward to more frame & gift photo displays from PostalPix.

Check out all of her displays here.

  • How to Make a Winning Contest Guide

judges-tips-blog Curious what it takes to make a winning guide in our contests? Here are some helpful tips from the judges: 1) The winning guides find the most creative ways to incorporate the theme into their guide. Is the theme creative tea uses? Think outside the box to come up with new ways of using tea than you normally would. Is it an upcycling contest? Find an inventive way to recycle something old and make it new again! 2) Creativity and photo quality go a long way in determining winners. Top quality photos are a great way of showing how much work you’re putting into your guide. 3) Remember that images in guides cannot be copyrighted according to our Terms of Service. Please use original images! This means you must use your own photos that you’ve taken. 4) Multiple photos, clear steps, and a full list of supplies are important. Clear instructions and step-by-step photos make for the most helpful How-To guides!   Have other questions on what makes a winning contest guide? Email us and we’d be happy to answer them.   Have fun and good luck! -The Snapguide Team
