Hello everyone!!! I've worked in a pharmacy for 20+ years. I also have 2 teenagers, one of which has cystic acne. Yes, the ibuprofen will help with the redness. This is a great tip! If anyone is having the itchiness, it could be that they're sensitive to an "inactive" ingredient that's used to make the gel or sensitive to ibuprofen. You can use some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream if needed. Ibuprofen is an NSAID...so is aspirin & aleeve (naproxen)...my kids also made a paste by crushing aspirin and mixing with a small amount of water until a paste forms. It will be gritty. Just spread this paste over the affected area until it dries, then rinse off. Just another tip if the IBU (ibuprofen) doesn't seem to work or causes uncomfortable itchiness. Of course, if you have any allergies to aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen, then this isn't for you. If you like a more natural approach to healthy skin, read about coconut oil, it's great for the skin and also helps with scarring. DO NOT use coconut oil if you're allergic to coconuts.

Great idea! BTW as long as the pin is clean you have very little if any chance if infection. However do NOT use the pin to "pop" the pimple !!! That could lead to infection and scarring! But if done as described this is a GREAT idea!!!!

But the pin does touch the Advil liquid..I think I will wipe pin with either alcohol or peroxide first..don,t want to turn a simple pimple into a staph infection due to a germ-y pin. Thinking you could also dissolve a baby aspirin in a bit of water and apply to a pimple since acne meds have salicylic acid (aspirin)

Tiffany I squeeze too but afterwards I take a clean, wet face cloth and squeeze with hot water (hot as you can stand it without burning yourself) leave some moisture in the face cloth and hold against the open pimple for about a minute rinse towel and repeat. The moist heat opens and cleans any left over dirt in pimple then use cool water to close and tighten the pores again. All traces of the pimple and redness will be gone in a few hours. If you do it at night your good to go in the morning, if done in the morning you will be good by lunch. Try and avoid makeup on it so you don't reinfect it.

Regarding the Whitehead comment. I find that squeezing the contents of a whitehead out With my fingernails work works well and then putting some kind of acne medicine on top
