Step 2 of 19
The first thing I suggest you do once you open the app. I prefer to have the "Detect end of speech" turned on. This means when you stop speaking it'll automatically stop listening.

If you turn the "Recognize Names" feature on. It'll scan your contact and when you say someones name while dictating it'll have the correct spelling.

When you see this screen begin speaking what you want to turn into text. Speak clearly. You shouldn't be in a loud room and you'll need an Internet connection (wifi, 3G, etc…).

It got it right for me as it usually does. But if one of the words is incorrect you can tap it to get suggestions for other words to change it to. Or you can delete it.

When you're finished tap the menu at the bottom right corner for your options. Copy it to paste in another app. Send with email or SMS. Or post directly to your social networks.

Step 13 of 19

Rather than typing out all the commands. I'll just give you some images of them from the dragon dictation site. So open the fallowing set of images to learn them.

Step 14 of 19
All commands are in bold text. This means what you read in bold text is what you'd say out loud as you're dictating a message.

No difference really. They're both running the same system. Nuance is the company that makes dragon dictation and the dictation on iPhone. But it only comes with 4S. I have 4 which doesn't come with it. So the app is for those of us that have an earlier version then 4S.

What's the difference between this and using the built in phone dictation

And this dragon dictation app actually helped me when I got my hearing back with a cochlear implant. Being deaf for about 20 years my speech had a slight slur. So I'd practice speaking on this dragon dictation app. If id didn't get a word right a lot I'd practice repeating that word until it got it right. It forced me to concentrate on it.

Dragon has the dragon search app. But if you haven't tried it try the Dragon Go! app. It's better then dragon search. I'll make a dragon go guide.

Thanks Ron :-) wonder if it can do smileys lol ok that i was thinking n thought id add lol but not really serious. I love the Dragon apps. I first found this one and then looked under their company name and found they have one to help you search the web and one for medical info. I got em all but not sure if theres more now cuz havent checked in awhile. They are all so great cuz its always been hard for speech programs to understand me. I talk to soft & sound like a dork trying to talk louder clearer & i dont have to do that w Dragon it lets me talk normal & still almost always gets it right. I was gonna use it when I was gonna start a blog but now i dont want to lol but its be great for those that do blog. Sorry for the book lol.

Thank you! I had tried this but didn't know I could speak punctuation, so I spent more time fixing it than typing would have taken. Your tips make this app really useful for me!
