How to Polish Shoes

How to Polish Shoes. I'm using my Drilling Shoes in this guide but I'm pretty sure it can be used for other shoes.

Step 1 of 12

First you want to clean the sides of your shoe with your old toothbrush with just a little bit of soap. Make sure not to get the inside wet. Have some paper towels on standby !

Now get the Tshirt and wrap securely and tightly around your index finger like this.

Step 6 of 12

This part is some what difficult. You have to melt the polish into the pores. Since it is leather "cow skin" it is just like our skin. But it is important that you don't burn the shoe.

Step 7 of 12

The video is REALLY BAD. Don't judge. Haha. But it's to give you an example.

Step 8 of 12

After you have "burned" your shoe you let it cool down. Then you take your cotton ball and soak it.

Step 9 of 12
Shape the cotton ball this way, so you have somewhat of a handle.

Step 10 of 12
Rub in circular motion until you see some shine. (Excuse the nails, they get messed up when doing this. HAHA)

Also if you're afraid to use a lighter you can use a hair dryer with the same effect

Instead of using flame directly on the leather, I find heating a teaspoon with the lighter and running that over the leather works well too...

These are my drill shoes and this way is the most effective. But I wouldn't experiment with expensive shoes. Thankyou for the comment.

Don't use fire to burn your shoes, especially for expensive shoes. "Fire-shining" may give you superb shining. But if you keep doing it for few more times, it will crack the leather, especially the genuine expensive leather. And you'd have throw them away eventually.
