You know what, this has been so useful for me. It's embarrassing asking about such a simple skill, but you've got to learn somewhere...

Nice tutorial Jessica! FYI- @MarthaCarnes- Kangaroo paws are from Australia and thrive in areas that are hot but are not fond of humidity. One of the few diseases that Kangaroo Paws are vulnerable to are a black spot type of disease that is encouraged by excess moisture. I test these plants for growers from all over the world and write about them on my blog. Take a look at this short post on Kangaroo Paws http://edenmakersblog.com/?p=77

I have some Easter plants that were in pots that are dying and I want to plant outside for next year, I'm wondering if you plant the dead plant now or wait till fall?

Kangaroo paw should grow in texas full sun position as its a similar climate to western Australia where they come from.

It's also called anigozanthos. Very popular in northern California for being drought tolerant.

David, sometimes you just have to dig in and break apart bound roots. Unless the plant is very very wet it's usually ok. Sue, thank you! Some of the plants are Santa barbara daisy, alyssum, river violet and kangaroo paws.

Can you share the plant names. You are an inspiration

Looking forward to having a garden soon to try this out in :) The root loosening bit is a bit scary - how do you do without damaging them? They look so thin a fragile.
