How to Make Your Own Taco Bowl!

I didn't want to buy taco bowls for my taco salad. I figured I would bake them. My fiancée she loves them!

Step 1 of 10

Gather your ingredients! I prefer LaLa's Tortillas but use what you like! Preheat your oven now at 400degrees!

Step 3 of 10

Next take your bowl and spray the inside with the cooking oil!

Step 4 of 10

Step 5 of 10

Next throw a tortilla in the microwave for 10 seconds. This makes it pliable and easy to set in the bowl!

Step 6 of 10

Put the tortilla in the bowl then place the bowl in the oven! Leave it in for about 10 minutes or however crispy you want it!

Step 7 of 10
Boom!

Step 8 of 10

When they are ready pull them out, let them cool off and fill with whatever you want!

Step 9 of 10

I like these because I don't fry stuff in oil. This is probably a healthier way to make taco bowls!

Findings- methods...

Another thing I did (because I was very busy with something else) put some water in a glass oven-proof bowl or baking dish... Then that'll take care of allowing the tortilla bowl to form very nicely. Do not remove the bowls once they're done... They will crack/split from temp change... I turn the oven off less than halfway through. By the time all of the bowls are formed... It's back to lukewarm temperature. None have ever broken. I hope this helps. I also hope "That one guy" isn't offended for that's not my intention. Just wanted to help with new findings...

For those of you who think 400F. might be too high, you can always fill a little bit of water in a spritz bottle (strictly for kitchen/edible uses)... If you feel your "bowl" isn't taking shape, spritz the tortilla LIGHTLY all around... Make sure you do not remove anything from the oven. Don't even adjust the oven rack. A friend did that & said his bowl (tortilla) completely cracked. I'm thinking that happened because of extreme temperature changes... When you stick your arm in the oven, just be very careful not to burn yourself. Also be very careful not to let your water spritzer touch anything hot. I suggested this and he said it worked like a charm. I was thinking along the lines of what we do when we bake bread.

Heather, there are no "real" flowers. We're just talking about moulds (in this case, a mould shaped like a flower). You can create your own mould or to make things easier, just Center your tortilla on a bowl that's upside down and lightly smooth out the tortilla over the bowl! You can use ANYTHING that's designated only for the kitchen. You know, lots of soufflé bowls, or salad bowls will often have ridges around the sides.. Let your imagination just go wild and having fun finding shaped bowls for a lovely tortilla bowl!!! Think positive, smile always when people walk by! Everyone loves a friendly smile!!! Makes the world a better day!!!! Be Happy!!! 😃

Where did flowers come from?

Heather W 10 months ago

Heidi Feldman

If you stop at your local craft stores or even dollar stores if they're still around, they might have actual flower plastic bowls, I can't remember if I've got 5 different sizes of them inside the flower bowls. Or 4 or 3... I use mine for my art. But thanks so much for the guide!!! Hadn't even thought of that till I came across your fabulous guide!!! Thanks again! 😊

Would this work for corn tortillas?!

Amanda Greensworth 11 months ago

ThatOneGuy

You can do that too. Put it on a baking pan upside then lay the tortilla on it

Wow. Thanks! :) When we make wraps, etc, we just stick 'em in our mini oven for a few minutes to soften them up :) But for this recipe, I didn't need to.. Just shoved them in the bowls and it worked fine!

Sage! You've just made my day!!! I too do not own a microwave oven. I like doing everything the old fashioned way. Patience is a virtue! Good things come to those who wait. I can tell in a lickety split second if something was nuked or cooked. Nutrients are important to have. I just like to ever so gently steam... You can steam the tortillas but be super quick so as not to burn your skin from evaporation of the hot steam. I've personally not run into tortilla softies and am lucky... But some suggestions for the very few of us who do not own a microwave.
