I hate paying $25 for mineral veil, but i love the stuff. I'm a cheapskate and not afraid to admit it.

Step 2 of 5
Spoon some corn starch into your container, add baby powder. Mix. I used a chop stick. I never measure. I'd say maybe 3 parts corn starch to 1 part baby powder.

Step 3 of 5
Add tinted face powder. I used a cheap bronzer, but any lose tinted powder is fine. This should be only slightly tinted. It's not for concealing, but for absorbing oils & holding your makeup in place.

Try to mix it up well and break down any clumps of corn starch. These will also break up when you get it on your brush and swirl in the lid.

Finished product. Enjoy! I found this idea on a blog where someone researched the ingredients in mineral makeup. Apparently corn starch is a key ingredient. Been using this powder and I love it!

Abby- that's fine. Just make sure it looks natural- since it won't have anything in it to match it to your skin tone.

Can I use only corn starch as a mineral veil powder?

You can use your regular face powder in whatever tone you normally buy. It doesn't have to be bronzed, that's just what I had on hand ( I don't let my face tan- so I bronze it)

How much of the bronzer are you using? I put a few dashes in but it still is a very pale powder, is it supposed to be? Thanks =)

Well, I tried it in the mineral veil, and it was fine. But I tried it on its own, and it inflamed my skin. So, it's in my remote makeup bag to use if I run out. :) thanks anyway!

Great! You'll have to tell me what you think of that bronzer recipe!

Just made some with an already mixed cornstarch and baby powder mixture. Added a bit of homemade bronzer. Can't wait to try!

You can use tinted moisturizer, or create your primer by mixing equal parts foundation and good quality face lotion.

Tiffany do u know of eyelid primers that can be made at home?

Tiffany Tarnowski

Lupe- Awesome! Good thinking!

Emma- mineral veil is last. Some people use concealer first then foundation, but others do foundation then concealer. If you do concealer second, but mineral veil always last.

Thought I'd let you know I made the mineral veil. It works just great. Also I used a small sifter for all the products and the veil has no lumps. Thanx for posting.

In what order do you apply the following? The mineral veil, foundation, concealer.

I've never had a problem. It's all the same stuff that's already in your makeup.

Ohhhh okay. It sounds really good. I'm definitely going to try it soon.

No. A primer goes on first to perfect the skin, and make it nice and smooth. This is put on after the make up in the places where you tend to get shiny to prevent shininess. You shouldn't have to reapply foundation. You should probably retouch your lips and/or eye make up because it tends to fade during the day if you do not use a primer.

Is this like a primer in a way that you don't have to keep reapplying your makeup throughout the day?

Amazing! Going to try today! Thanks

Usually the last. It's usually a translucent powder to prevent shine. So it's like blotting paper but in a powder form.

That's really up to you. I tried to match it to the color of the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil as best I could. Your best bet might to be to just add a bit at a time and test the color. You don't want it to be too thick with color.
