I worked at Starbucks we made the tea every four hours or when it ran out this way; 1 liter boiling water steep four tea bags (or they do sell the large iced tea bags for exactly this purpose)for 5 minutes, add one liter ice cold water. And that's it :)

If you were to do nothing else with the tea, this is a well-known process of brewing "sun tea". The sun's warmth steeps the tea over a few hours time. It's a very economical way to brew tea and delicious as well. Thnx for the recipe!

I thought that when non-dry foods and drinks is left un-refrigerated for approximately 2 hours they start to grow harmful bacteria, not sure if the same rules apply here... And letting it sit for a few hours doesn't sound fast enough for me so I would think it might also work with making the tea using the usual method and cooling it after

I'm guessing it is for the tea to emulsionate... I'm also guessing you can put your tea bags in 1 or 2 cups of hot water and add them to your cold water... :D
