Yeah I can totally understand kids and pepper. We eat a lot of spicy food so for us it needed it. Glad you liked it though. Kick it up even more try experimenting with different cheeses. A combo of smoked Gouda and pepper jack with parmesan and cheddar was pretty awesome!

Jeff Seal

Yep. Made this last night. Was really good. I love the pepper but my kids said it was too spicy. That's when I sent them out in the yard to forage for beetles.

I made this last night for dinner. Just a few thoughts...I would use 3/4 of the half and half and a bit more salt and pepper. I would also use more cheese. It is a definite "make again" Mac and Cheese!

@Daniel Tried the baking with bread crumb method. I love that way also. Started doing it this way when my daughter was young because all she liked was the kind out of the box. She's been hooked on this ever since :)

The directions on the packaging for the macaroni will give you instructions on the amount of water to use. But 2 quarts should be fine.

(author) last year

Alex Ferdean

Sorry for asking this, but how much water?

Alex Ferdean last year

Be first to comment on Step 2.

Darrin Rich

The same pot is fine. Or you could use another if you want. No water. The pot should be empty when starting this

(author) last year

Alex Ferdean

In the same pot, with the water left? Or with no water?

Half and half is a combination of equal parts whole milk and cream. You can find it in the dairy section of your grocery store.
