If you come across these in a middle eastern market, I recommend picking them up. They are great in mulled wine and stews.

You can add black peeper corns, dried limes lemons, or any favorite holiday spice.

Step 10 of 12

When the wine reaches a boil you can add pears to poach and absorb the great tasting wine concoction. I recommend doing this. You won't be sorry.

Step 11 of 12
You can serve it as soon as it's heated or let it simmer longer, at least ten minutes, for a stronger, better flavor. Let it boil at least twenty minutes of you've added pears.

I'm glad you liked it! I've made it about three more times since that post. It my favorite holiday drink. It's very relaxing. Merry Christmas to you, too.

There's a list of spices I use in the ingredients list. You can taste the wine after you add those spices, and if you feel it's missing something, you can go ahead and add it. It's sort of a lax recipe, you can make it your own. You could add tea bags, limes, allspice, honey, cloves, pretty much any spice that would compliment holiday spices. Hope that helps.

Can you be more specific about what spices you recommend?
