There is nothing like homemade bread crumbs to improve the taste of your dish. Fresh homemade bread crumbs are easy to make and it saves you money too!

Save old bread  in the freezer until you're ready to go. Any type of bread (white, wheat, sourdough, rye, etc.) can be used. The assortment of breads also gives your dishes wonderful taste!

First we want to make sure to remove any moisture from the bread by toasting the bread on cookie sheets in the oven.

Into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 300°F.

Break larger pieces of bread into smaller pieces so they'll fit into the blender easier.

Put a small amount of your bread into the blender at a time on high speed until they turn into crumbs. It will take a few minutes but it's worth the wait!

@ Maxine - I'm not sure. I usually keep mine in a Ziploc bag in the freezer. That way I know they will last longer. Since they do come from bread, they can get stale. Store-bought ones that you keep in the pantry usually have preservatives I think.
