When the wax is melted add the pads to the wax letting them absorb wax on both sides. They will puff up being full of wax. Using the tweezers pull them out.

Step 5 of 7
Laying the soaked cotton pads on wax paper over the counter to let them harden up again as the wax is cooling. *Tip don't let the pads absorb too much wax or it will be a hard thick cotton puck.*

Hmm. My BF uses old oil from car changes, and newspaper. This seems infinitely safer!

These look great but for years I have made fire starters with cardboard egg cartons. We cannot recycle these is our area. I melt the wax from old candles and then pour into the egg cartons. I use several layers of newspaper under the cartons while the wax is liquid. When the wax is solid just close the lid and you have firestarters. The carton breaks apart very easily and they stack really well.

@ John Geiger lint it's perfect too I've used it as well. Also pinecones work great too.

I'm using leftover dryer lint in place of the cotton pads. You can ball it up and dip it in the wax. Works great and I always have lots do dryer lint around.

They might, but idk if one will have the power to heat and start charcoal but it couldn't hurt to try. Let me know how it goes.
