You can make this mixture without the vinegar, but it seems to work even better when it's included. I've gotten red drinks & what I (think) was road tar out of my carpet as well as many mystery spots.

I doubt it, but it's worth a try.

I should have tried this before I bought my new carpet at http://www.smartcarpet.com. I will actually test this out on my friends carpet and see how well it works. Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to get beneficial advice.

Will try this one, thanks. We have some "mystery" spots from grandkids that seem to resist commercial cleaners and our carpet cleaner machine. Will gladly use this!

I haven't tried it, but if you do Let me know what you think. I do make my own cleaning concoction to put in my machine, and I love it. It works great. I use Borax and Mr.Clean with Fabreeze multi surface cleaner. I put about 1/2 C borax and 1 cup multi surface cleaner in the reservoir then fill the rest with hot water. Mix or shake till borax is dissolved. It smells great and does an awesome job! I would think dish soap in the machine would be a disaster.

Your carpet looks the same color and texture as mine, going to give this a try. I was actually wondering if it is something you could use IN the carpet machines? Have you tried that at all?

Thank you for great tip! I was just wondering if there is any specific portion for each ingredient. How do you estimate how much to put for each ingredient?
