To mimic the "eel" wrapping found on sushi, use black construction paper. You will want to measure your baked cupcake bottom/around to get the correct length before cutting the strips.
After marking your length/width, cut paper strips. You should cut one strip per baked cupcake.
Taking one strip at a time, roll to form a ring shape. Secure the ring using your stapler.
Place formed "eel wrappers" to the side.
Mimic raw fish, seafood and vegetables by artfully cutting multi-colored gummy candies. I used gummy fish, Asian watermelon gummy candy and Dots - all easy to cut. Use toothpicks to help place candy.
Cover a plate with coconut, then press the tops of iced cupcakes into the bed of coconut until covered and flattened. Begin placing your cut candy.
Choose a style of sushi for your inspiration. This will help as you arrange different shapes and colors on the top of each cupcake.
TIPS... Cut candy gets sticky, take a break and refrigerate to harden. Use clean hands and toothpicks to arrange candy. House cupcakes in a holder to keep them study while decorating.
After you decorate, grab paper rings and give each cupcake an eel wrapper. For displaying, place them in sushi trays, create a sushi boat or decorate your table with sets of chopsticks. Enjoy!
