You can get it in your local grocery, I got this packet in ASDA. The packet of pearl barley costed me £0.58.

Boil the barley following the instructions on the packet.

The barley will become softer as you boil it.

Once it has reached this stage, you can add the sugar to taste. If you don't take sugar, you can use any other substitute.

Prepare a few lemon wedges.

You can drink your barley water hot/warm/cold. Refrigerate after it has cooled down if you want to drink it cold. Squeeze in some lemon juice just before serving.
