How to Make an Origami Dollar Heart That Holds a Quarter

This guide shows how to make a cute heart from a dollar! You can add a quarter and a note if you want to!

Start with a dollar. A crisp new one works best, but I'm using a soft one in this guide.

Step 2 of 23

Fold in half.

Step 3 of 23

Open back up.

Step 4 of 23

Fold in half.

Step 5 of 23

Open back up and fold the dollar like so.

Step 6 of 23

Follow the directions in the video.

Step 7 of 23

Follow the directions in the video on both halves of the dollar.

Step 8 of 23

Follow the directions in the video on BOTH halves of the dollar.

Step 9 of 23

Fold the flaps upwards like so (do on BOTH halves of dollar).

Step 10 of 23

Press the top point of open it up (do on BOTH halves of the dollar).

Step 11 of 23

Press down to make it a square (do on BOTH halves of dollar).

Step 12 of 23

Repeat that step on the other side of the diamond (one more time, BOTH halves of dollar).

Follow instruction in video on BOTH halves of the dollar and on the opposite square.

Here's how the dollar should look.

Since the fold in the beginning of the guide came undone, fold the dollar back over itself.

Flip the dollar over.

Fold the flap downwards.

Step 18 of 23

Fold small tabs on the left and right side inwards.

Follow the instructions in the video.

This is how it looks right now. You can leave it like this or....

Add a quarter!

Ta-da!

You cut a paper to the size of a quarter, write a note, and "lock" it in the heart behind a quarter if you want. Place the heart under something heavy for a day to make it flat! Thanks for viewing!

@Cat Nelson: It's okay if the two tabs on a square aren't symmetrical because the two folds make one tab. Mine weren't perfect either (:

My problem is the middle when you fold the mini squares to make the tabs. I can't seem to get them symmetrical.
