How to Make an Impromptu Lantern

Step 1 of 8

There are times when a lantern has advantages over a flashlight. A lantern spreads light in all directions rather than one direction. Lanterns also allows you to be hands free.

Step 2 of 8

Just to give some examples. Maybe your car breaks down at night and you need to fix something under the hood that requires two hands.

Step 3 of 8

Or your power is temporarily out because of a storm. In this guide I'll show you a simple way to turn your cellphone into an impromptu lantern.

Step 4 of 8
All you'll need is a cellphone with a flashlight/app and a bottle of water (remove label).

I saw another video using this technique. Put water bottle in holes in the roof of a shed. Seal the holes around the bottle. A cheap way to light a shed without having to add electric power. Look it up on YouTube to see various ways to do this.

Very interesting information. From basic need stems incredible creativity. We should all be very thankful that a switch lights up our world

I found out something interesting. In some areas of the world where poverty is high. They'll take bottles of water. Add a little chlorine because they're used for a long time. And put them in holes in the ceiling. The sun shines through and lights the rooms. Equivalent to a 40 to 60 watt light bulb (search YouTube for it). Interesting.
