How to Make an EASIER Hair Bun With Easier Rolling!

22.1k Views
Step 1 of 17

This will make the rolling of a sock bun SO much easier! I found it to be difficult when I first started, so I found an easier way to have this awesome hairstyle. Hope you enjoy!

Step 2 of 17

Make a ponytail wherever you want your bun to be. I prefer higher buns, but to each is own.

Step 3 of 17
Step 4 of 17

And, of course, make the donut shape with a sock rolled up. Don't forget to cut off the toe! You can roll more than one sock together if you have longer and/or thicker hair.

Step 5 of 17
Step 6 of 17

Now, put your hair through the donut, just like any other sock bun tutorial. I swear, it is different in a minute.

Step 7 of 17
Step 8 of 17

And evenly wrap your hair around the sock...

Step 9 of 17
Step 10 of 17

Now, instead of putting an elastic around the whole bun, pull the sock up until there's an inch or so of hair at the top, as you see in the next picture.

Step 11 of 17
Step 12 of 17

Now! The change! Instead of trying to just magically roll the bun AND hair down together (because it's not as easy as it seems), you want to put an elastic around the top of your hair, around the bun.

Step 13 of 17
Like so... Only wrap it once though, or rolling it down will be hard.

Step 14 of 17
And begin to roll it down. Don't worry about covering the whole sock just yet.

Step 15 of 17
Once you reach your scalp, then it's time to adjust the bun. I like to pull hair from the center of the bun, tightening it, as well as making a bigger, cleaner, neater looking bun.

Step 16 of 17
And this is what you're left with. Feel around and look in the mirror to make sure no sock is showing. Ask a friend or family member to look if possible lol. Nothing like having socks in your hair.

Step 17 of 17
And the beautiful finished project. I swear, making that ONE difference in the regular steps makes it much easier! I promise!

You are all very welcome! Glad I could be helpful. And for the girl who said she can't do it because her hair is too long, I'll post another tutorial on how to do yet ANOTHER sock bun that'll work, even better with long hair. So keep watching!

You just use a regular old sock. You cut the toe part off and then roll it up into the donut shape
