Yes, the name can be deceiving ! Even though its messy.. It can be tricky to get that perfect look. Hopefully this guide will clear things up.

Start by wetting hair or adding salt spray to it. I find that for some people wet hair is easy to work with, and the salt spray will add some wave to your hair after you take the bun out.

Gather hair into high ponytail.

Now loop it. After that just tug on it to fan it out.

Now pin the sides down, tug and distress the loop, and pin sections down how you like it. I left mine as is bc it looked alright. Lol.

Well, find a really thick hair tie, follow the steps, and pin the sides again, and pin any hairs sticking out. Also, my messy bun number two may be easier, and also look up the donut bun.
