Gather your ingredients. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Prepare the top crust. Using a pasta cutter, for pretty edges or a knife, cut 1-1/2" strips.
Place the bottom crust in the pie dish.
Prepare your apples. As I cut the apples, I add a bit of the lemon juice to keep then from browning.
Place the apples in a bowl and add the remaining lemon juice.
Add the brown sugar, flour and cinnamon.
With the best tools you own, your hands, mix the apples and the ingredients thoroughly.
Pour the apple mixture in the prepared pie crust.
Put the pieces of butter all around.
Place 5 strips, pull back 1/2 way every other strip. Place one long strip perpendicular, unfold strips. Pull back other 2 strips, repeat process. Just watch the design. It will create the lattice.
Sprinkle the top with sugar.
Place in the preheated 400 degree oven and bake for 20 minutes. Lower the heat to 375 and bake for 40-45 minutes. Watch the edges for browning. Cover if necessary.
Remove from the oven. Let cool and enjoy!
