How to Make a Classic Simple β€ Apple Pie π
I made some changes to the classic apple pie to make it easier to make even on weeknights without loosing its original taste and beauty. Enjoy! β€
I love making this for my clients and family on their special days, as it's not too sweet and better for them than cakes and much easier. π
Wash, de-core, and peel the green apples.
Slice the apple thinly.
Put the apple in a microwave safe bowl, add sugar, apple juice, corn flour, salt, and cinnamon. Gently toss everything together. If you like, add raisin, it's really good. π
Put the bowl in the microwave oven and nuke it on high for 4 minutes, stir gently and nuke it for another 4. When done, add lime juice and fold gently and leave to cool in room temp.
Separate the egg. Drop the yolk into the cold water, add salt and sugar. Mix together the add the the freezer.
Sift the flour. Some ppl say you don't need to. I'd say. It wouldn't hurt would it. π
Dice or shred cold butter into small pieces.
Cut and blend the flour and the butter together. You can use your hand, if you like, but it will get pretty messy. βΊ
The crumb should look like cake or bread's crumbs.
Add the liquid ingredient (don't forget it give it the last stir before pouring)
Work it into a smooth ball of dough.
Cover with wax paper
Chill for an hour.
Divide the dough in half. Put the second half back in the fridge.
Roll out thinly. Try to make it close to your pan's shape as possible.
Put the pan over it
Flip
Peel off the wax paper and fit the dough into the pan.
Make sure u check the corner of the pan
Poke holes with a fork.
Fill it up with ur apple
It should be almost to the top.
Take the other half of dough out from the fridge and roll out as thin as you can. Lazy? Put it over you pan just like that. And poke some venting holes.
For something more fancy. Cut the dough into strips
Weave it up. It doesn't have to be perfect. We can do some creative cover up.
Pu the last strip on the rim of the pie.
Cut anything beyond out border strip.
Press the fork on the border strip to seal and decorate the pie.
Use cookie cutter, cutting out cute shapes and place them on ur pie to cover up mistakes. π
Brush egg whites all over the pie
Preheat the oven to 180 and check your pie one last time.
Put the pie on a rack and bake for around 40 minutes. By the time you smell delicious aroma from your oven. It should be golden brown and ready.
rest the pie to cool down on a rack. Et voila! There you have it! A classic simple apple pie. β€
Special treat for someone you love and care about. β€β€β€ enjoy!
If you are keeping it for the next day, plastic wrap and put in a fridge. If you live in a cold country, you can just leave it on the counter π
