How to How to Do the Diet Coke and Mentos Lab
First grab the caffeinated, 2 liter diet coke bottle that you bought.
Grab geyser tube from the drying rack.
Grab goggles.
The next 4 steps do 2X for each step.
Grab heated Mentos. (66 degrees Celsius.)
Grab room temperature Mentos (22 degrees Celsius.)
Grab Mentos from freezer (-25 degrees Celsius.)
Or from the fridge (15 degrees Celsius.)
Insert pin into small hole so he Mentos won't fall through on the ground.
Have geyser tube and hot, room temperature, frozen, or cold mentors in one hand and geyser tube in another
Open Mentos and put Mentos in individually touching them as little as possible. ( do in 2 minutes for heated, frozen or refrigerated so they dont change temperature.)
You can also have one person holding the tube while the other loads them in.
Put on goggles before entering zone of death.
Have person recording start as soon as its your groups turn. Make sure they are far enough and high enough that their video is able to capture the full result.
Enter zone of death with coke bottle and loaded geyser tube.
Put coke down.
Open bottle while another person holds Mentos.
Take back the Mentos and insert geyser end into top of coke bottle.
Screw on the red cap.
Hold string and wait until 15 seconds have passed since you opened the bottle.
Pull the string after 15 seconds have passed from the opening of the bottle. Then exit zone of death.
Pull the string gently so geyser doesn't fall over and stand back from geyser so you aren't sprayed with the coke geyser.
While geyser is going record how high it went at its peak..
Stop recording after saying temperature, height of geyser and what trial number it was.
Remove geyser tube by twisting off red cap and putting aside.
Dump out extra contents left in bottle into area teacher tells you it's ok to dump out coke.
Place in recycling bin.
Rinse geyser tube under water until all soda is gone.
Put cleaned geyser tube on drying rack to dry.
Record data.
Do each temperature of mento test 2 times.
Now your done!!!!!
