I use some heads just like you to feed the birds. The seeds I want to keep I dry by spreading them thinly on a baking sheet and ruffle them when I remember it normally takes about a week or so depending on the humidity of the air. I use them in baking, either in the dough or sprinkled on top as decoration. My whole family are put to work taking of the husk. I also use them just like snacks like peanuts. Roast them a bit on a hot frying pan add a spoon full of soy sauce and they are ready to eat when the soy sauce have evaporate. You can do the same thing with almonds
