This a really fun, messy, time-consuming way to get a cool look on your nails. Every nail turns out different, some better than others.

Paint your nails white. Let them dry! You probably could paint them a lot neater than I did.

Spread a layer of petroleum jelly all around your nails and fingers, but don't get any on your actual nail!

Open the bottles of polish you plan to use because you will need to be quick with the next few steps.

Have the cups with water ready too!

Drop a drop of one of your colored polishes in the water. (It might help to tip your bottle of polish over)  It should float to the top and spread out.

This is with the first color. Quickly drop in other colors. You want to be quick so the polish won't dry out.

Now use a toothpick to swirl the colors a bit.

Now dip your nail into the water, lifting up a layer of polish. Don't worry about polish on your finger, the petroleum jelly will make it come off easily.

Now use the toothpick to pick up the dry polish off of the water.

After you've taken your nail out, use a q-tip and nail polish remover to clean off the stuff on your finger. Then repeat the process on all of your nails! Mine need some cleanup.

^i usually use just room temp water and you have to be really quick when youre dropping in the colour.....it took me a few tries to get it

Hmmm...My water was a little warm. Maybe when it's warmer it keeps the polish from drying out as quickly?

I've tried this and the polish dried out and came onto my nail as a blob. What temperature was your water? Maybe mine was too cold or something? :)
