How to Give Your Dog a Bath!

Step 1 of 20

Lay out some towels on the floor.

Step 2 of 20

Take collar off.

Step 3 of 20

Fill a bath with warm water and make bubbles using...

Step 4 of 20

A proper doggy shampoo!

Step 5 of 20

Put in your smelly mutt!

Step 6 of 20

Squirt a large blob of dog shampoo on to your hand.

Step 7 of 20

And gently massage into your dogs fur!

Step 8 of 20

Just me massaging the shampoo into Alfie! Remember to be careful around his ears and his eyes.

Step 9 of 20

All shampoo massaged in!

Step 10 of 20

Take a jug of water from the bath.

Step 11 of 20

Pour a few jugs on him till the shampoo is all gone.

Step 12 of 20

Now take a couple of jugs of fresh water straight from the tap and use it on your dog!

Step 13 of 20

Lift him out of the bath and quickly throw a towel over him! This bit is the hardest part!

Finally got him!

How to (usually) catch him again during the drying process.

Groom him if you like, put collar back on and your done!

@Janice sorry for late reply the only stands still because he's scared stiff of water :D oh yeah we've got a shower head in the shower but it doesn't work because he runs to the back of it so the water doesn't touch him :D

I can tell by watching your video that you really love your doggie and take good care of him. I'm the biggest dog lover in the world. How do you ever get him to stand so still in the tub? Mine won' t stand so still. Clara, I have one tip for you. Try installing a shower head that you can hold in your hand and spray water on Alfie. That would eliminate having to fill jugs of water. Make it easier on you.

@Molly if you meant alfie he's a cavestie- which is a hybrid-he's a cross between a westie and a cavalier king Charles

The one in the photo is a local mut known as Tong Guo, a cross between Alsatian & Labrador, very kind nature, she mothered the 3 day old kitty when we found she in the street; the other one is a Cocker Spaniel. Both rescued dogs.

I put the desired amount of shampoo in an empty bottle, mix it with some warm water & shake it well before putting it on my dogs, that avoids uneven lumps of soapy areas & much easier to rub the shampoo in.
