This is not my recipe. This recipe was passed to me by a friend. The bread comes out very good.
Gather all your ingredients
Put the warm water and sugar in a big bowl. A very BIG BOWL. A salad bowl works for me.
Add your yeast.
Mix the yeast with the warm water and sugar. You can add more sugar, is up to you. I use chopstick to mix.
Let the yeast rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add the salt to the yeast.
Add 1/2 cup of wheat flour.
Whisk a little until mix.
Add one cup of wheat flour and one cup of white flour.
I use my chopstick to mix.
It should look like this. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Add the rest of the flour and work the dough.
I work my dough inside the big bowl. Knead the dough some more until it become smooth, elastic and just feels nice.
Talk to the yeast while you do this, you can sing to it too. Enjoy the texture but don't over knead, dough get tough and icky.
Grease a bowl with oil. I use my Misto with olive oil.
Place dough inside the greased bowl and roll it around until the dough is cover with oil.
Cover and put it in a warm place and let it rise for 60 minutes.
If your house is cold then you can place it inside of an oven that was heated to warm, turn off, and with a pan of warm water on the floor of it.
After it rise punch it down flat and shape it into a loaf.
Place it in the pan, cover and let it rise again for 60 minutes or more. At this time I just go to the gym.
Before it goes inside the oven, mix the cold water with the salt and brush it on top of the dough.
Bake for 40 minutes or a little more. Take it out and let it cool in a cookie rack.
Enjoy your bread!!! Sometimes my bread grows more. But always taste great. Approved by my 9yo daughter.
