In a whacking motion, take  your knife and dig it into the seed so that the blade is wedged. Twist the knife to loosen the seed  from the meat.

Once loosened, lift your knife and voila!  Be careful, gripping the seed with your bare hands might cause injury, b/c the knife can slip, use paper towel to grip the seed and remove it from the knife.

I knew how to cut and twist but had no idea how to get the stone out until now. Thanks for the tip!

You can always place the avocado on the counter top and wedge the knife into the seed. You need enough force for the knife to stick. But the avocado could slide. Maybe use an oven glove or something thick to hold the avocado.

I always feel like I'm going to cut myself when I do it this way. I think I'm the only person who can't do it
