Fill saucepan with water to about 2cm deep, place lid on pan and bring to the boil.

When boiling remove lid and break one or two eggs into the water. The easiest way is to put the eggs into a small cup first and then slide them into the water. Place lid on pan and turn off the heat.

Leave for three minutes and DON'T remove the saucepan lid!

Thanks for all your comments. Yes it's true that a little vinegar helps to hold the shape but this is not necessary if you use fresh free range eggs.

Richard: Yup. The shape of the egg will be better if you put a teaspoon of vinegar before you crack and put the egg inside.
