How to Cook Crispy Bread
Name change. Well I found out tonight while researching the translation to one of the ingredients is an aphrodisiac of sorts and was shocked to learn where it was harvested from. Move over Oysters!!
Healthy, savory, crunchy bread biscuits for dips, snacks, appetizers or just a boost to your recipe collection.
Erotic bread you say!! Excited? Let's get started. 2 cups of sifted plain flour unbleached flour. You may use wholemeal if you wish.
Add 1/2 cup of black sesame seeds. Extremely good for health. Kidney, liver and even reduces grey hair!! So far so good.
1 teaspoon of salt. This is a savory dish and you may add as much salt as you like, but let's keep it a bit healthy and away from blood pressure problems.
Here's one of the ingredients that I couldn't find an English name for, but we call it Mahlab. I'd appreciate your help if anyone knows the English name. We use this for indigestion as a tea.
Grind 2 tablespoons of Mahlab into a fine powder and add it to your bowl.
Does yours look like this? Great!!! Let's continue... I'm sure you're excited as I am at this point ...
The magic musk. Also known as muscone, mustika, musk crystals. Apparently, it used to be harvested from deer!! However it is not anymore. Hello afrodesiac!!!
Hello fresh breath, digestive aid and stomach upset fixer.. Great for adding into tea.
Grind 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds and add to the mix
Looking mighty healthy so far. So many happy healthy ingredients for our erotic bread.
Add 1 tablespoon of yeast to your bowl. Nothing erotic about yeast. But fennel, musk and Mahlab are sexy ingredients aren't they!!
Take a picture of yourself in the shiny kettle. I'm not fat, the kettle is round lol. Moving on ...
1/2 a cup of warm milk.
375 GM of melted unsalted butter
Melt the butter for 35 seconds on high power. Try to catch a pic of 35 seconds and miss
Remember my psychotic chickens from my previous guide. Well they allowed us to have 1 egg. Just perfect!!
Add 1 egg to the mix.
Eggs are a good source of protein. But you already knew that :)
Grind lemon onto the egg for the smell. For those who wonder why we grind lemon into all recipes that use egg? There's a smell when you cook with egg that Lebanese can't stand. This is how to avoid it
Add the melted butter into the bowl.
1/2 cup of olive oil.
Olive oil is great for digestive system and your skin. Note: It's recommended you take 1 tablespoon of pure olive oil every night before bed.
1/2 cup of warm water. Notice the glove!! Modernizing my 70 year old traditional mother. ;)
Play with the dough as much as you like. Bring it all together. If you're not wearing gloves. Wash your hands.
Once you've mixed it thoroughly, you will find the texture of the dough is almost elastic. A nice shiny glow on your dough with little black sesame seeds floating through it.
Leave the dough somewhere warm for half an hour or so. Sing it a lullaby if you feel it will speed up the rising process. I tried it, didn't work. Singing optional.
Cut them up into medium size patties. You can choose the size. I'm not a size queen! As long as you can roll them out into larger disks.
Roll out with your rolling pin.
The thickness of the dough really depends on how thick you want your biscuit to be. Around 1.5 cm should do it. Remember thicker biscuit, different cooking time.
With your favourite shape cookie cutter, cut as many as you can out of the dough as such.
One down....
Holy dough batman!!
If you know how to plait hair, this shouldn't be too hard. Gents who are balding can skip this part. Lol. Oops a little off topic.. We're almost done...
Well aren't they pretty. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. You don't need to oil your baking tray. The dough has oil in it.
Bake for 20 minutes on 180 degrees and please check that they are golden brown all over not burnt.
And there you have it. A crunchy, healthy snack that is great with dips or yoghurt. Store these in an air tight container and store at room temperature. Don't eat too many, they are addictive...
And they will make you naughty!! Look forward to bringing you another recipe soon. From our amateur kitchen with love. Micho :)
