Melt 1 cup of butter and 4 ounces of unsweetened chocolate over low heat.
Pour the mixture into a bowl to cool.
Next, put 1 cup butter, 2 cups sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the bowl of an electric mixer.
Beat at speed 2 for 30 seconds, then speed 6 for 2 minutes.
Lower to speed 4 and add 3 eggs.
Mix until blended, then scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Add the chocolate mixture and mix until combined.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl and taste the batter. Multiple times.
Add 1 cup of flour and half of a teaspoon of salt. Mix until combined.
Special ingredient: add half of a bag of mini chocolate chips to the batter and mix in.
Put batter in a buttered and floured 13x9 inch pan.
Eat remaining batter while brownies bake.
Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Enjoy!
