Get your ingredients together. Brown bananas work best... This is good as I don't like to eat them when they're too ripe.
Put all your bananas in a bowl. You can make this with only 2 bananas but 3 makes it more banana-y. ;)
Mash the bananas. Not too much, some lumps are good.
Your bananas should look like this.
Add in 1 cup of sugar & mix.
Add in 1 tsp vanilla & 1/2 tsp nutmeg & mix.
Add in 1 1/2 cups of flour & mix.
Put 1 tsp baking soda in a measuring cup. Boil the kettle for hot water.
Dissolve the baking soda in a 1/4 cup hot water.
Get 1/2 cup shortening. Keep some aside to grease your bread tin.
I use a knife and cut in the shortening. Mix it well. The shortening should be at room temperature to make this step easier.
Mix. Mix. Mix. This is how the batter should look.
Pour the batter into your bread tin. Put into a 350 degree oven for an hour.
Yum. Fresh banana bread. Wish there was "Smellguide"
Let it cool for awhile before cutting or it will crumble.
