Please. Don't do that^ If you read an isopropyl alcohol bottle it even say not to be used on a wound with a foreign object still intact. In this case that would be your jewelry.

I used to get ear piercing infections on a piercing I had on my tragus and I used hot water to compress and clean and and an alcohol gel to clear the bacteria and it worked a treat for me, although it never really got to the point where I had to see a doctor ;(. Sorry yours got that way.

Brianna Falconer-Nash

I have had a week of antibiotics and squeezing out the pus (gross i know) I thought it was never going to get better but finally it is improving. Thank you all for your advice

Ask MD for a wound care. Still with drainage? If not Soap and water or saline sol 0.9% pat dry, Change dressing daily, should have progress within 1 week or less, if not see MD again. Finish your antibiotic to prevent superinfection. Hopefully it'll heal soon 🙏

@Jennifer Collyer I think someone needs your experience again...

Can someone who is a professional or had personal experience of this tell me if it was a good idea to take it out, because I have heard that if the holes close up the infection can get trapped in your ear causing an abscess. My ear is still very swollen. How should I treat it?

Megan L

Glad to hear you are happy again xxxxx

I went to the Docter and they pulled it out. It was the most painful thing in my whole life. My neck still hurts but I am going to take antibiotics. I am very thankful that it wasn't both ears. When it was pulled out pis and blood gushed out. Maybe it was a good idea after all. Otherwise the Docter said it would have got stuck in my ear and I would have had to have surgery. To anyone that has a piercing infection. TAKE IT OUT!

If pain radiating to your neck jennifer was right you need to see an MD and get antibiotic. Neosporin would help too

That happened to me go to a walk in clinic or a family doctor and they can help you. And if you and in this much pain just get the earings out. It will hurt taking them out be after an hour or so it will feel much better. Hope this helps! -kristy xxxooo

You can't sterilize a piercing gun because they are plastic. I would go to your local reputable body piercer to have it removed.

Jennifer Collyer 9 months ago

Brianna Falconer-Nash

In a beauty salon. It was quite professional and they have been perfectly fine up to now. I have heard of u take them out the infection gets trapped in your ear. Also it's extremely painful and I am physically unable to take it out. :(

(author) 9 months ago

Megan L

Risking also where did you have them pierced?

Megan L 9 months ago

Megan L

Just take it out anyway this woman seems to know where she's coming from but I say just take it out and let it heal up this isn't worth

Megan L 9 months ago

Jennifer Collyer

I mean take it out and get it redone by a professional once it's healed. I assume it was done with a gun?

Jennifer Collyer 9 months ago

Brianna Falconer-Nash

I am really worried please help :,(

(author) 9 months ago

Brianna Falconer-Nash

I cant take it out as I only got them pierced last week. Shall I see a Docter?

(author) 9 months ago

Jennifer Collyer

Also, if it's radiating down your neck it could be becoming an infection in your Lymph nodes and you do not want that.

Jennifer Collyer 9 months ago

Jennifer Collyer

Take it out. Try antibacterial soap. The sea salt is only for discomfort. It won't get rid of bacteria. Hot washcloth compressions too.

Actually, you might be able to help me, I am in a LOT of pain. My war is extremely swollen with no discharge but the pain is radiating down the side of my neck. What shall I do?

Brianna Falconer-Nash

Yes, I realised that after :) thanks for commenting, I forgot about that.

As a professional body piercer of over 10 years, I would recommend switching your iodized table salt to sea salt or Epsom salt.
