Step 12 of 14

Place the cake into the oven for 30 minutes. Stick a toothpick into the center of the cake, or wherever it's thickest. Remove the toothpick from the cake.

Step 13 of 14

If it doesn't have any batter on it and it's pretty clean, take it out of the oven. If not, place it back in the oven for a couple more minutes. Do the "toothpick test" again in a different location.

I did use vanilla but it was like powdered vanilla. (not the liquid type. And yes it was very pretty when I cut it up ;)

You're welcome! Did you end up using vanilla or no? Isn't it so pretty though? @Melisa

And to everyone who is confused about the rings, think of it as water marble nails but with cake, and you don't swirl it around after you've made the the rings. Just drop in the middle and it will spread out.

Natasha (:

It will be! It's really easy! But make sure that you don't make the rings of color too thin, or the colors will blend. Let me know how it turns out!

I was thinking of making this sometime this week but I don't know how to do it in grams and millimeters. If you know how to do it in cups and tablespoons etc. please help.

The vanilla extract gives it a really nice flavor, you could still do it without the vanilla, but it would taste much better with it

Yes that's right, and you can use a hand mixer

(author) 11 months ago

Raphael Ndaiga

About the whisking, if you have a hand mixer it would be easy just make sure you whisk well before you add the next ingredient. The gg has to be fully whisked till it turns to a pale colour then the rest of the ingredients one after the other as Natasha has indicated. Natasha please correct me if I'm wrong. Hope its clear and will definitely give it a try soon

Allow me to try explain the layers..... Basically you pour one colour then the other, Keep alternating till all is done. When pouring you do it at the very centre and use a ladle and start at the centre of the cake tin till done. Clear?

Karen Hunniford

Btw what size tin did you use for these quantities?

That's correct!

Natalie Bebito

So I just pour the vanilla and then pour the chocolate on top of it?

Natalie Bebito 11 months ago

Natasha (:

You put it on top of the other and they will automatically spread out.

Dim Slim

Do you mean put one flavor on top of the other or around in a circle?

Dim Slim 11 months ago

Natasha (:

Don't make your rings as thin as these! I accidentally used more than 2 spoonfuls, it still worked, but my other cakes turned out much better!
