How to Access Street View in iOS 6

Step 1 of 11

So Maps dropped street view... and added 3D...

Step 2 of 11

... which can be accessed using the 3D building button in the lower left corner of the app.

It is pretty cool... but I would still like access to street view.

Step 4 of 11

Let's begin... Access Google Maps in the Safari app.

Step 5 of 11

Allow access to your current location.

Step 6 of 11

Create a web clip for the app by selecting the icon of the arrow shooting out of the rectangle.

Step 7 of 11

Choose to Add to the web clip to your Home Screen.

Step 8 of 11

Enter your location and search. Tap the icon of the person in the lower right corner to enter street view.

Step 9 of 11

Voila - sweet street view!

Step 10 of 11

I think the blend of 3D and street view is a powerful tool for learning about and referencing location.

Google Maps web app

Safari

Apple accepted our latest app, 'Sparkling Maps' this weekend after a long review period. If you are frustrated about the lack of detail of the new maps in iOS6, just get this map solution, based on the familiar google maps. It has street view support and is a lot faster than this web based solution. Sparkling Maps even has turn by turn navigation, something that was never offered by google on Apple devices. I'm actually having problems with it, don't really know whats happening, but i don't see the option of the person in the rigth corner as you said 😢

Yep - I was bummed when street view went away too but feel this web app is a nice consolation.

Brilliant guide, I hate the new maps on ios6 , so slow and incorrect, love the speed of google maps especially locating traffic jams, and street view is a bonus, thank you...
