Andrée shares DIY projects that perfectly balance being creative yet simple enough to successfully replicate yourself. Her profile is full of festive ways to decorate your home this autumn, and we hear she has many more how-tos to share. We have been inspired by her guides and wanted to learn more about the person behind them!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m Andrée Boisselle, I am a DIY enthusiast and the Social Media Coordinator for Marketplace Events, the largest producer of home and garden shows annually across the US and Canada.

How did you first start getting into DIY projects?

While a lot of the products and ideas presented at our home shows require certified home and garden experts, I found that some of the simpler decor ideas could be done at home for very little cost.  Once I began executing these projects, I knew others would enjoy their simplicity.

You share such creative projects, where do you get your inspiration?

As the Social Media Coordinator for Home and Garden Events, it is my role to research home & garden decor, design, and DIY projects that are worth presenting to our online community. I draw inspiration from our home show experts, various design blogs, and of course I’m constantly pinning on our HomeShows Pinterest boards.

What is your favorite part of a DIY process?

It’s hard to say because I find the whole thing very therapeutic. I enjoy going to the store, looking at items and thinking, “What could I do with this?” But I think the best part of any do-it-yourself craft is putting on the finishing touches and seeing everything come together (hopefully).

Out of all your guides, which one is your favorite?

My favorite Snapguide is definitely my first one, “How to Paint Easy Artwork”.  However a close second is definitely “How to Make Funky Painted Pumpkins” as the pumpkins featured in the guide were a part of our Halloween office paint-off.  I could not believe how amazingly creative everyone in our office was, an Angry Birds pumpkin? Such a great idea!

Your job sounds awesome, tell us a little more about what you do and how Snapguide is involved.

My job is definitely awesome! With 34 consumer home shows in 20 markets across North America, there is always something new and exciting worth featuring on our blog. I want to make sure our fans are as inspired in our online communities as they are when they visit our home shows. So whether I’m working on a fun DIY Snapguide to embed into the blog, or an exhibitor profile showcasing home show products, there’s always something new to learn.  It is for this reason that I’ve fallen in love with Snapguide, always something new to share and always someone new to learn from.
