Here are answers to some common questions about Snapguide.

What is Snapguide?

Snapguide, is a free iOS app and web service for those that want to create and share step-by-step “how to guides”. The app provides easy to understand instructions for a wide array of topics including cooking, gardening, crafts, repairs, do-it-yourself projects, fashion tips, entertaining and more. Users are invited to submit their own guides, so that they can share their passions and expertise with the Snapguide community.

How does it work?

Let's say you know how to bake a delicious cake or fix a fence and you want to share your process with others. Using the Snapguide iOS app, you can use pictures, videos and text to create a step-by-step guide that you can publish and send out to friends. You can also use Snapguide to connect with people who share your interests and explore other how-to guides that help take you through the process of trying something new.

How much does Snapguide cost to use?

Who owns my content?

Your content is owned by you. We are honored you're sharing your accomplishments with us, and we appreciate you agreeing to license your content for us to use. But the content you create belongs to you, and we will always respect that!

How do I create a guide?

To create a guide you need to install our iOS application, which works on most modern iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch).

How do I view a guide?

Guides can be viewed on http://snapguide.com and are formatted to look great whether you’re on a tablet, mobile phone, or desktop browser. If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you can download our app and view guides on there as well.

How do I embed a guide on my site?

  1. Head to the web version of the guide and click the Embed button next to Supplies.

  2. Decide which dimension you would like to display by clicking Narrow or Wide.

  3. Copy and paste the code onto your website.

Where can I embed a guide?

It's possible to embed a guide on most sites, including Blogger, Tumblr, and self-hosted Wordpress sites. Unfortunately, embedding will not work on blogs hosted by wordpress.com.

Can I create a set of guides?

Not yet but we love the idea!

How do I delete my guide?

If your guide must go, sign into our iOS app and go to the “Me” tab. There, you’ll be able to see your published guides. Swipe the guide you’d like to delete from right to left, and tap the red delete button. Careful, once your guide is deleted, it’s gone forever!

Can I make a Private guide on Snapguide?

Not yet. We definitely like the idea and might support this in the future.

How do I Sign Up?

There are three ways. The quickest options are to connect an existing Facebook or Twitter account. However, if that's not your thing you can create a Snapguide account using your email address.

What happens if I Sign Up with, or connect, my Facebook or Twitter accounts?

If you Sign Up with, or connect, your Facebook or Twitter accounts Snapguide will automatically try to find your friends on the service. If you sign up with Facebook we will ask for permission to post to your timeline when you like and publish guides. You can manage what Snapguide posts to your timeline in your settings.

Why isn't my iOS device supported?

Dang...we try to support as many devices as possible. We support iOS 5.0. The devices we have tested that work includes the: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPod Touch 4th and 5th generation. If you have one of these devices and it doesn't work with Snapguide please try updating the Operating System on your device and that might help!

I am having trouble adding photos from my camera roll. How do I fix this?

If you're have general problems adding photos, make sure you have Location Services turned on. To do this, head to the your iOS device's settings, tap "Location Services" and scroll down to Snapguide. Turn the toggle to "On" and head back to the app to continue working on your guide!

If you are not able to access your camera roll, you will have to edit your privacy settings on your device. Head to Settings, then Privacy, then Photos. Turn the toggle to "On" for Snapguide and you will now be able to upload photos from your camera roll.

Where's the Android/Windows Mobile Phone/etc version?

If only there were more hours in the day! Right now we’re focused on improving our iOS version but we’d love to support more platforms and will do our best to build them in the future.

How do I report a user or a guide?

While we review and moderate content to ensure that it’s appropriate for the site we also appreciate feedback from the community. In the app, you can report a user on their profile page. You can also flag inappropriate content on each step of the guide.

How do I delete my account?

While we hate to see you go we understand that you may have the need to delete your Snapguide account. If you're signed in you can delete your account from the settings screen in the iOS app or from the settings screen on our website. If you decide to delete your account, all your guides, photos, comments, and of course your account, will be deleted forever. I'm having a technical problem, who do I talk to?

For the quickest response, head to the Help section on your app. There, you can send us an email by tapping the Feedback button. If you don’t have our app, you can send us an email at feedback@snapguide.com and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
